THE NEW IDEAL IMPLANT®
Not surprisingly, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the most requested cosmetic surgery in the United States is breast enhancement. Last year alone nearly half a million women underwent this surgery and that number is only expected to increase!
In fact, the demand for breast implants has steadily grown each year since silicone gel-filled breast implants received the FDAs approval in 2006.
Over the years there have been many improvements. Initially saline replaced silicone, which quelled fears of dangerous ruptures and tears. Today, we’ve gone one better with the Ideal Implant® which offers what many women have been waiting for, a breast implant that is both safe and natural in appearance.
Years of research, testing and input from women and plastic surgeons led to the design of the Ideal Implant®. On the outside, it looks like a standard saline implant, however upon closer inspection it is obvious that the edges of the implant have been lowered resulting in a better contour to the chest wall, which follows the natural curve of a woman’s breast bone.
On the inside is where the revolutionary improvement lies, the implant contains a series of shells which Dr. Nicholas Nikolov, one of the surgeons spearheading the FDA trial observes “may significantly decrease the risk of ruptures.”

So, when and where is it available?
In the near-future, once all studies and trials have been completed; Dr. Nikolov observes “In my opinion, the implant is an ideal choice for women that are not happy with what the present saline implants can accomplish cosmetically.” He continues “from my observations, the ideal implant shows no rippling effect what-so-ever, the design is also such that it fits very well and you do not see what is commonly referred to as scalloping—which is when the edge of the implant, sits above the chest wall and creates an obvious rounding effect, which has a very hard or harsh unnatural appearance.”
Currently the Ideal Implant® is being studied in an FDA-approved nationwide clinical trial, limited to 500 women having their first breast augmentation, or replacement of existing saline or silicone gel implants.
For many, there is a new ideal option…just on the horizon.
