What is Brow Lift?

A Brow Lift is a cosmetic, surgical procedure that helps raise the brows. It is frequently called a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation because it does improve your forehead’s appearance, in addition to the brow and area around your eyes. The effect is achieved by raising the soft tissue and skin by your forehead and brow.

Dr. Nikolov is renowned for offering one of the best brow lift surgeries in Beverly Hills with his focus on practicing patient safety and providing satisfaction for so many of his former patients.

What’s the First Step?

The first step in getting a brow lift in Beverly Hills is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Nikolov. He will discuss your goals for the surgery during this appointment and ask you about certain medical conditions that may cause problems during the procedure, such as blood clotting, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or the tendency to develop larger scars. It is encouraged to inform Dr. Nikolov if you smoke, have had previous facial surgery, or are currently taking any medications or drugs (including aspirin or any other prescriptions) which might affect clotting.

Dr. Nikolov will give his expert advice on the specific technique should you decide to proceed with the surgery. Dr. Nikolov and our highly skilled Beverly Hills team are here for any questions or concerns that you may have or may be harboring.

What to Expect on the Day of Brow Lift

When you come in for your Brow Lift, you will first be administered either general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, depending on what was discussed during your consultation. Once you are under, Dr. Nikolov will begin by making a coronal incision in a “headphone-like” pattern. Beginning around the ear level, it will then run across the top of the forehead and back down to the other side of the other ear. The incision is made just behind the hairline to avoid visible scarring. For our patients who are losing their hair or are bald, a mid-scalp incision is often utilized as it follows the natural pattern of the skull bones.

Working through the incision, Dr. Nikolov then carefully lifts the skin on your forehead and, depending on the technique previously discussed, will either release or alter the forehead muscles and remove the underlying tissue. This will help create a smoother and more youthful appearance, along with elevating the eyebrows and trimming away the excess skin. He will then close the incision with clips or stitches.

An alternative method that you and Dr. Nikolov may decide on is called an endoscopic Brow Lift. It possesses many of the same preparation steps as the traditional procedure: your hair is trimmed where the incisions will be made, with any excess hair being tied back.

The primary difference is that instead of one long coronal incision being made, Dr. Nikolov will make a few scalp incisions (between three and five), all of which will be less than one inch in length. Through one of these incisions, an endoscope (a very tiny camera) will be inserted, permitting the surgeon a clear view of the tissues and muscles beneath the skin. Then through a different incision, another instrument will be inserted helping him lift the skin of the forehead and remove or carefully alter the underlying tissues and muscles to produce a smoother appearance. The eyebrows may also be lifted and secured into a higher position beneath the surface of the skin. The incisions will then be closed with clips or stitches. The entire area will be washed and wrapped with either an elastic bandage or gauze.

Who are the Best Candidates for Brow Lift?

If you are wondering if you are a good candidate for a Brow Lift in Beverly Hills, you should have some of the following characteristics:

  • Have developed frown lines or furrows due to stress
  • Looking to minimize the visible effects of aging
  • Maintains a positive attitude with realistic expectations regarding the outcome of your surgery
  • Nonsmoker
  • Physically healthy
  • Suffering from a receding hairline or are completely bald

*If you have previously had upper-eyelid surgery, Dr. Nikolov will simply perform a more conservative operation or alter the incision location to keep visible scarring to a minimum.

Brow Lift Recovery

The patient that has a classic brow lift may have a different experience post-operative than the patient who endoscopically had the procedure done. Some patients may experience some numbness and temporary discomfort during recovery, all of which prescription medication can control.

To keep the swelling down, you may be told to keep the head elevated for two or three days. Within a week or so, all swelling should begin to disappear. Itching on top of the scalp may replace numbness as the nerves continue to heal. Around the incision, some hair may fall out or thin temporarily. Within a few weeks or months, normal growth will resume.

Usually, within a week, the staples or stitches used to close the incisions are removed.

The most suitable way to understand the price of your procedure is to come in for a consultation and allow our plastic surgeons to give you an examination. Once they know best how to help you, you will be provided with a cost breakdown for your entire treatment.
